White Tail Deer Facts:
The average size of an adult white tail deer is 80-100cm at the shoulder and the female weighs between 40-139 kg. The males are larger than the females.
White tail deer have a varied diet which includes grains, grasses, hay, cactus, plants, legumes, nuts, corn and fruit. Their unique digestion system permits them to eat mushrooms and red sumac that are poisonous to others. Their diet depends on what is available any given season. Their diet varies in the seasons according to availability of food sources.
White tail deer inhabit areas where there is a predictable food supply with shelter from deep snow.
