Ghost of the Rockies...... Mysterious Mountain Lion

Ghost of the Rockies……. The Mountain Lion

Recently it has been brought to my attention the extremely unfair treatment of the Cougar a.k.a Mountain Lion. Once they thrived throughout all of North America from Canada to Mexico from the Atlantic to Pacific oceans, but now due to "human progress" they only remain in a corridor that spans through the Rocky Mountains and the western part of the continent.

By nature they are an elusive animal that doesn't like contact with humans and are rare to find in the wild due to this. Man’s fear of these cats has lead to the unfair and unbiased slaughter of these cats to the point that for the first half of the twentieth century there were bounties put out on these cats. They were hunted, male, female and even cougar cubs with no mercy!

But now they face an even greater danger from man....guided hunts with dogs. Cornered on ledges and in trees, they are killed with no chance of escape! Hardly fair and no game in killing a trapped, cornered animal!

Many people look at Tiger's and ask why? Highly endangered with three sub-species already wiped out yet we are doing the exact same thing to the Cougar! Right now it is legal in ten U.S. states to hunt Cougar's and I ask if you live in one of these states or even if you don't to write a state representative and ask for the senseless slaughter of the Cougar to be stopped before man wipes out North America's only big cat.
